In a brief post-game chat, Wang "Light" Guang-Yu, the promising AD carry for Weibo Gaming, shared his insights and reflections on the team's unexpected yet thrilling journey to the finals of the League of Legends World Championship 2023. Despite not being the initial favorites, Weibo Gaming has captivated fans worldwide, largely thanks to star players like top laner Kang "TheShy" Seung-lok. Their path to the finals, marked by a challenging group stage and a hard-fought knockout phase, has set the stage for a potentially electrifying showdown against the formidable T1.

Reflecting on his performance, Light expressed a mix of satisfaction and a drive to improve, particularly regarding their crucial Game 5 victory. "Game 5 was the only game that I would call it as an incredible performance. I would say probably just a normal performance that I had in the specific five, because before the game, I was talking to Crisp, 'We need to prove ourselves.' So, yeah, it was kind of a satisfying game," he said, highlighting the importance of self-improvement and teamwork in their recent successes.

Light also praised the team's top-side performance, emphasizing the increasing significance of the bot duo in their upcoming matches. "So far coming to this point, our top side —  they're performing perfectly. It really comes down to the bot duo. We'll count a lot in the upcoming matches. And also, I think we will have a pretty thorough review on our matches if we can do or perform even more perfect than before," he stated, indicating a focus on strategic refinement and preparation.

Facing the powerhouse team T1 in the finals, Light shared his calm and focused mindset. "To me, I don't have any special pressure. I think I'll just have to perform well in the finals. And T1 is a very strong team. We just need to do our best to face them. So we'll have a pretty thorough review on our matches. Personally, I'm not feeling super pressured right now. I just need to think about and focus on my performance to perform really well in the finals," Light remarked, showcasing his confidence and readiness for the challenge ahead.

Discussing the bot lane dynamics, Light acknowledged the difficulties they faced during the lane phase but credited his support player for creating opportunities that helped them gain the upper hand. "To be honest, during the lane phase, our champions of the bot duo didn't have a very good advantage when we face up against the enemy bot duo. But our support player, he managed to find an opportunity to snowball from it. And also to take more dragons and to pressure our opponents. So because of that, we felt more confident. Even though there were several mistakes in the game, but we still managed to close the game," he explained, highlighting the team's adaptability and resilience.

As Weibo Gaming prepares to face T1, the echoes of last year's World Championship, where the fourth-seed LCK team DRX stunned T1, linger in the air. With Light and his teammates showing solid growth and tenacity, the stage is set for what promises to be a memorable and history-making final at Worlds 2023.
