With the intensity and fervor of the League of Legends World Championship in full swing, one team that's caught the eye of many is Weibo Gaming. Wang "Light" Guang-Yu, their AD carry, recently spoke with Inven Global, delving into the team's experiences so far, their internal dynamics, and much more.

Despite not entering the tournament as clear frontrunners, Weibo Gaming has established itself as a team to watch. Their journey through the group stage, marked by a mix of impressive victories and hard-fought losses, culminated in their qualification for the knockout stage, much to the joy of their fans.

One of the standout moments from their group stage battles was the intense face-off against G2 Esports, a team recognized for being the standout favorites amongst western teams. Reflecting on the skirmish, Light observed, "G2's bot lane is very strong, particularly in the game we played against them. Our champion select and game plan didn't quite pan out as we hoped. Because of these elements, it's understandable that we couldn't close out the game, and they managed to come back." Given G2's formidable reputation, especially their commendable skill with champions like Draven and Kalista, it was no small feat for Weibo to play against them.

KT Rolster was another powerhouse Weibo encountered. Delving into the challenges they faced, Light candidly shared, "We reviewed many aspects, but the main issue was our in-game performance. We hope to improve and perform well against strong teams." This transparency and willingness to introspect are arguably vital traits for a team aiming for the top — still with many issues.

Beyond the team's external challenges, much of Weibo's story is also about internal synergies and dynamics. Light was particularly effusive about his rapport with Liu "Crisp" Qing-Song. From their initial games, it was evident that they shared a unique bond, crucial for the bot lane. Over time, they've harmonized their playstyles and now operate seamlessly. Emphasizing the role of supports in the game, Light highlighted the importance of the jungle and support roles in crafting opportunities for their colleagues. "Jungle and support excel at creating space for mid, top, and AD carry," he noted, underlining how this space allows damage dealers to truly shine during teamfights.

The conversation also turned to the topic of Kang "TheShy" Seung-lok, a star player who sometimes displays inconsistency. Light was quick to emphasize a holistic perspective. "When our team's form isn't at its best, it's not just about one lane, like the top lane. Everyone has their issues in that game. However, when we're performing well, I believe every member deserves credit." Additionally, Light light-heartedly revealed insights into the team's coaching approach with TheShy, mentioning that their Korean head coach has a closer communication line with him, regularly advising, "Do not play the game on your own. Don't be over-aggressive."

As Weibo Gaming prepares for the next stage of the championship, it's evident that they are not just a team of skilled players, but also a group that's committed to reflection, growth, and synergy. Fans and analysts alike will be keenly watching their journey unfold.
