On Oct. 9, the Worlds Qualifying Series were held to determine the final team to compete at the play-ins for the 2023 LoL World Championship. The 4th seeds of the LCS and LEC: Golden Guardians and Team BDS clashed to claim the last ticket.
The first game was quick, as Team BDS took care of Golden Guardians in 20 minutes. They went ahead through Théo “Sheo” Borile’s ganks and had a big win at the Rift Herald fight. Within 15 minutes, the global gold difference was more than 6K apart, and Golden Guardians didn’t have enough strength to hit back.
Team BDS locked in Garen for Adam “Adam” Maanane in game 2. The early game was in Golden Guardians’ favor, as Kim “River” Dong-woo’s Bel’Veth pressured Sheo’s Maokai constantly and successfully pulled off multiple ganks. However, Team BDS turned the game around in a split second as they slew Baron and had a huge teamfight win. The global gold difference was turned around this moment. After the second Baron, Team BDS took pushed through to take a 2-0 lead.
Game 3 was Garen’s World. With an early kill in the top lane, Garen scaled well. Golden Guardians tried to stall and earn time to catch up, but the fights in the side lanes were in Team BDS’ favor. Garen had up to a 600G bounty on him as Team BDS pushed through the bot lane and destroyed Golden Guardians’ final Nexus.
Through the win, Team BDS secured the final spot in the Play-ins. Team BDS will be facing Team Whales on Wednesday.
