On Nov. 22, Kwangdong Freecs announced that Kim “Kiin” Gi-in is officially a free agent. Along with the announcement of Kiin’s FA, they also announced that they acquired bot laner Kim “TaeYoon” Tae-yoon and Ko “YoungJae” Young-jae.
Kwangdong Freecs seem to plan a whole new future, as they signed Kim “cvMax” Dae-ho as the new head coach last September. They also did not extend the contracts with jungler Choi “Ellim” El-lim, mid laner Yoo “FATE” Soo-hyeok, bot laner Park “Teddy” Jin-seong, support Ryu “Hoit” Ho-seong, and coach Lee “Spirit” Da-yoon.
In 2022, Kwangdong Freecs had a decent start as they reached the playoffs and finished in 4th place, but they stumbled in the summer season, falling short of the playoffs and Worlds in 7th place.
