The grand finals of the 2022 LoL World Championship is just around the corner. T1 and DRX will clash to determine the best team of the year. Over the LCK Spring and Summer season, T1 defeated DRX in every single game — in 2022, DRX did not win a single game against T1. 

That being said, the odds are heavily in favor of T1. However, DRX got here as the underdogs since the regional qualifiers. They made upsets after upsets to reach the last stage of the year.

For the finals, Inven Global talked to a few figures in the LoL esports scene and asked them for their predictions.

100 Thieves Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu thought it would be a sweep from T1. “I believe T1 will win 3-0. Personally, I’m a big fan of Deft and Faker, so I hope it would be a fun 5-game series, but considering the gap between the two teams, it’ll be 3-0 — at best 3-1.”

Evil Geniuses Jeong “Impact” Eon-young, who hoisted the Summoner’s Cup in SKT T1, also had a similar thought. His prediction was 3-1, and his reason was short and clear. “Because it’s T1.”

LCK caster Maurits "Chronicler" Jan Meeusen said that hoped DRX would complete their miracle run, but he followed up on his answer with some analyses. “While DRX played really well, Gen.G also played well below their usual level. T1 look incredibly confident and dominant across the Rift, and their current style should be really hard for DRX to deal with,” he said, and predicted a 3-0 T1 win.

Former pro player Lee “Flame” Ho-jong also shared his thoughts. “It’ll be 3-1 T1,” said Flame. “T1 has an advantage in the prowess of the top and bot lanes, and their macro is better as well.” He still mentioned that DRX has a chance. “Both teams had some jitters during game 1 [in the semifinals], and Zeka’s performance will be important.”

On the other hand, T1 legend Bae “Bang” Jun-sik gave a rather neutral prediction. “I think the team who wins game 1 will win 3-1,” and commented, “the pressure at the World Finals is completely different from normal games.”

The grand finals between T1 and DRX will be held on Nov. 5 at Chase Center, San Francisco.
