LNG mid laner Kim “Doinb” Tae-Sang revealed on stream that LPL players are not allowed to stream other games during the season and offseason.
The LPL stands atop League of Legends as the region to beat after three consecutive international events victories. However, that dominance in recent years may be attributed to a certain rule around streaming other games as a pro player in the LPL.
“You can’t be playing other games on stream during the offseason,” Doinb stated on his stream. “I’ve said this multiple times, you can’t be playing other games. We are not allowed to play the games with a pro league. It’s not allowed.”
In other regions, such as North America, Europe, and Korea, streaming is prevalent amongst pro players where it is pretty common for players to stream other games during the season and especially in the offseason. However, in the LPL, that is not the case as players are left deciding between providing content for their viewers or taking some time to relax and play other games off stream. In fact, if caught streaming a different game, Doinb revealed that LPL pros would be “fined” for breaking this rule.
“This is why so many pros play the games offstream,” Doinb said. “If you play those games on stream, you will be fined.”
The 2019 League of Legends World Champion has been regularly known to leak inside information about the LPL on streams, resulting in multiple fines throughout his career, according to Hupu Esports. Nonetheless, Doinb continues to provide his viewers with insider content in the LPL and his recent reveal surrounding LPL pros and streaming adds to that list.
LNG Esports are in sixth place with a 3-2 record in the LPL 2022 Summer Split. Doinb and LNG Esports will look to improve to 4-2 when they take on the 11th placed LGD Gaming on Saturday, July 2, 2022.
