On June 14, Gen.G announced that they’ve extended their mid laner of their LoL team, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon’s contract until Nov. 2023.
This marks the first time that Chovy has extended his contract with an LCK team. After his tenure with Griffin in 2018, he has also played with DRX and Hanwha Life Esports until signing with Gen.G for their 2022 season. As a player that has consistently showcased that he’s one of the best mid laner in the world, he looks ahead at the upcoming LCK Summer split to capture his first LCK championship and a ticket to Worlds.
CEO of Gen.G, Arnold hur, commented, “I want to express my gratitude to Chovy for displaying his faith with us. Not only is he immensely talented, he has what it takes to be a game changer, so the contract extension was the obvious choice.”
Gen.G’s General Manager Lee Ji-hoon commented, “The org’s job is to provide the right environment for their players to focus on their tasks and to perform at a consistent level. We’ll make sure to provide the best care for not just Chovy, but for all those that shape our collective.”
Lastly, Chovy commented, “I decided to extend my contract with Gen.G because I’m completely sure that I can provide great results through Gen.G’s extensive support. I want to live up to all of my fans, friends, and my family’s expectations, so I’ll make sure to continue to work hard with the goal of winning the upcoming Summer split.”
Gen.G will play their first match of the 2022 LCK Summer split on June 16, against kt Rolster.
