G2 Esports have ended T1's historic win streak of 26-0. In the 2022 MSI Rumble Stage, the European champions overcame an early deficit to shut down the LCK squad, who up until that point had not lost a single series in 2022. G2 themselves are now on a 21-game win streak, not having lost a single game ever since dropping to the lower bracket of the 2022 LEC Summer Split playoffs.

T1 kicked off the game strongly. Bot laner Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong got an early kill on his Tristana when G2 support Raphaël "Targamas" Crabbé played too aggressively. T1 grabbed this early lead and ran with it. For 20 minutes, they played around the map with precision and determination, leaving G2 to play catch-up. When G2 tried to come back into the game with a pick in the top lane, T1 jungler Moon "Oner" Hyeon-joon showed them what he was made of and exploded with his Viego.

However, once G2 were able to find teamfights, their composition popped off. Built entirely to enable mid laner Rasmus "caPs" Winther's Yasuo through a wide variety of knock-up abilities, the samurai started catching T1 off guard. G2 first found Ryu "Keria" Min-seok in a mid lane fight, and leveraged their composition to slice up most of T1's other players.

With the scales tipped back into their favor and with their composition outscaling that of T1, G2 started to claim control over the map. In a hail mary play, T1 tried to force a fight in the Baron pit, but it was G2 once again who displayed their teamfight prowess and took hold of the game with a firm grip.

With a calm but determined approach, G2 did not let go of their lead. They choked T1 out of the game and upset what many consider to be the favorites to win MSI 2022.

G2 have another strong opponent waiting for them today: LPL champions Royal Never Give Up are on the menu as the fourth match of the day. T1 will get a chance to redeem themselves against G2 Esports on Monday, May 23.
