Before the fourth day of the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational, Riot Games revealed that due to an issue that caused a difference in ping between Royal Never Give Up and their opponents, the LPL representative would have to play their three matches over.

Royal Never Give Up was 3-0 before their games were struck from the record, and after day four of MSI 2022, members of the team shared their thoughts on the situation.

The primary statement was made from the Royal Never Give Up Twitter account by head coach Zhu "KenZhu" Kai. In the lengthy statement, KenZhu describes RNG's day-to-day schedule during MSI 2022 from the lockdown in Shanghai, including the extra preparation, safety precautions, and lack of resources due to their remote participation in the event. 

KenZhu also acknowledged the backlash RNG has received and stated that the team had even considered quitting the event after the logistical complications. KenZhu described the treatment as unfair and that he was expressing his position on behalf of the team, and that while they felt that they shouldn't have to replay three games back-to-back-to-back, they will persevere and insist on finishing MSI 2022 regardless of obstacles.

Royal Never Give up starting jungler Yan "Wei" Yang-Wei and AD carry Chen "GALA" Wei also took to their personal Weibo accounts to post an emoji of a scale, which stands for fairness on the social media platform.

Royal Never Give Up was one of three undefeated teams at the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational alongside LEC representative G2 Esports and LCK powerhouse T1, but their first three matches against PCS representative PSG Talon, TCL representative Istanbul Wildcats, and CBLoL representative RED Canids will have to be replayed at the end of day 5. RNG played their 'second' round-robin of the group stage in the most recent day of MSI and beat all three teams.
