After a year full of ups and downs and a hard-foughts playoffs run, French organization Karmine Corp has defeated LDLC OL 3-1 — winning the 2022 European Masters Spring Playoffs. The win is their third consecutive of the event, after winning the EUM final in both iterations of the tournament in 2021. The victory cements Kcorp's place as one of the most successful European teams outside of the LEC.

The result of the finals was a surprise to many — with a lot of fans and analysts considering Kcorp to be the underdog coming into the match. Though the roster had experienced talent like Lucas "Cabochard" Simon-Meslet, as well as the AD carry superstar Martin "Rekkles" Larsson, the team wasn't able to put up consistently strong results. Despite their lineup, Kcorp placed third in the LFL 2022 Spring Playoffs — losing to Team BDS Academy.

Kcorp even making it to the final of the EUM Playoffs seemed improbable at times. After narrowly qualifying for the brackets staged (forced to play a tiebreaker), the French team had a 3-1 series against Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition, followed by a very close 3-2 match against Vitality.Bee. Meanwhile, LDLC went on an intimidating streak — going 12-0 leading up to the finals. Not only that, they had won the majority of their games against Kcorp throughout the year.

Though LDLC and especially their AD carry Thomas "Exakick" Foucou (playing Aphelios to achieve a scoreline of  8-1-4) had a very strong Game 1 win, Kcorp was able to turn the tables from there, and won every game after in convincing fashion. The series standouts were clearly Rekkles and Lucas "Saken" Fayard. Rekkles died once in the entirety of the series (going 16-1-25 throughout) and Saken's playmaking on Azir made several key plays to win Kcorp the series.
