According to an announcement on Astralis' Twitter account, the LEC team has signed European scene veteran Kiss "Vizicsacsi" Tamás as their new top laner. The signing follows a very disappointing LEC Spring Split campaign that saw the team finish in last place. The team has taken major steps in putting together a new roster — with Matti "WhiteKnight" Sormunen, Nikolay "Zanzarah" Akatov, and Hampus Mikael "promisq" Abrahamsson all departing from the lineup.
With his return, Vizicsacsi is one of the oldest and most experienced players in the LEC. Originally competing with Unicorns of Love in the EU LCS for 2014 — he competed in the highest tier of European competition for years. Other teams of his include Schalke 04 and Splyce.
In the announcement, the Astralis team stated, "By adding Vizicscacsi to the team, we have a veteran player that understands what his role is on the team and can create an impact in team fights regardless of how many resources he is allocated. He has already shown incredible motivation - both on and off the rift - and has played at a high level for so long that he instinctively knows what to do in high-pressure situations."
He has had a fairly successful career, with some of his past accomplishments including making it to the quarterfinals of the 2019 World Championship, making it to the finals of several iterations of the EU LCS, and winning IEM Season XI - Oakland. After initially retiring in 2019, Vizicsacsi announced his intentions to rejoin the LEC. Upon rejoining competition, his roles included working with MAD Lions as a positional coach, acting as a substitute for the Australian team PEACE during the 2021 World Championship, and playing with the French organization Team GO.
