The list of popular English casters declining to cast at this year's Mid-Season Invitational continues to grow. According to a post on his Twitter account, popular LEC analyst Marc Robert "Caedrel" Lamont will not appear at this MSI 2022. In the post, the talent details that "It was an extremely tough decision to make but I'm dealing with some personal issues at the moment and I'm not in the right headspace. Riot has been very understanding." In addition to this, Caedrel has stated that he will not be streaming or active on social media for the time being.
The announcement comes after beloved play-by-play caster Clayton "CaptainFlowers" Raines also announced that he will not be working on the English broadcast for MSI. In the latter case, however, the talent in question cited the logistical difficulties (having to travel to Europe while the tournament is being held in Asia) being the main reason for his absence at the event. Shortly before that, longtime League broadcast veteran Eefje "Sjokz" Depoortere announced she will not be working at the MSI 2022 broadcast due to working on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's PGL Antwerp Major instead.
After competing in League of Legends for several years, Caedrel began providing analysis for broadcasts in late-2020. He quickly became one of the most popular figures in the west, and began appearing at some of the most high-profile events in the scene. Some of his past appearances include working at tournaments such as the 2021 iteration of MSI as well as the 2021 League of Legends World Championships.
