LGD Gaming mid laner Chen "Jay" Bo has been banned permanently from competing in all professional events organized by Riot Games, Tencent, and Tengjing, effective immediately. Jay's punishment comes a few days after it came to light that he was being investigated for match-fixing in the LPL, China's top League of Legends competition.

The extent to which Jay's match-fixing goes is unknown. Through screenshots, some of which provided in the image below with a translation, it appears that Jay match-fixed games against BLG and Top Esports.

In a Weibo post, the discipline management team shared their findings. "On April 5th, the League of Legends professional event discipline management team set up a special investigation team and launched an in-depth investigation (...) as soon as it received a report from the LGD esports club that player Chen Bo, ID Jay, was suspected of violating the rules." The post continues to state that the investigation team worked with all parties to get to the bottom of the matter.

"Based on investigation and evidence collection, and verification with relevant parties, the League of Legends professional event discipline management team has identified: [Jay] of LGD has improper conducts that affect the fairness of LPL games and participates in illegally organized betting on League of Legends events," the summary of the conclusion reads.

The punishment, which goes into effect as per the post, is detailed as follows: " [Jay] will be suspended for life for violating relevant regulations. [Jay] is prohibited from participating in competitions organized by Tencent, Tengjhing, and Riot Games in any part of the world in any capacity from now on." Additionally, the post states, Jay will not be allowed to stream League of Legends on any broadcast platform. Since LGD Gaming cooperated fully with the investigation, they do not receive a punishment.

LGD responded to the conclusion of the investigation, also in a Weibo post, "LGD learned about [the situation] at 10 AM on April 5th and took the initiative to report [it] to the league at the first opportunity. The LGD Supervision Center immediately took evidence-preservation measures and actively cooperated with the investigations."

LGD says that their Supervision Center dug deep into the allegations, provided all data to the investigation team, and found the same result as the official punishment states. "LGD supports the decision of the league and dismisses [Jay]. The club reserves the right to pursue legal responsibility."

The Chinese League of Legends scene has had a tough time tackling rampant match-fixing. Last year, the LPL and its academy league LDL punished 38 pros for being affiliated with match-fixing. 12 of the punishments handed out were life-long bans.
