100 Thieves and Cloud9 were expected to have a contentious best-of-five series to kick off the 2022 LCS Spring Playoffs, but the result of the series was anything but. 100 Thieves demolished Cloud9 3-0 and will move onto the second round of the upper post-season bracket, where they will play the winner of Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses, who face off on the other side of the upper bracket tomorrow.

Cloud9 finished the 2022 LCS Spring Split in 2nd place with a record of 13-5, while 100 Thieves settled for the 3rd seed at 12-6. However, 100 Thieves finished the Spring Split stronger than any other team, winning seven games in a row before their final match resulted in a loss to Dignitas.

Cloud9, on the other hand, lost three of their last five games in the Spring Split, punctuated by an absolute shellacking at the hands of 100 Thieves in which star top laner Park "Summit" Woo-tae finished 0/8/2 on Graves.

100 Thieves repeated that performance in their clean sweep of Cloud9 in the LCS Spring Playoffs. Summit was heavily neutralized by Kim "Ssumday" Chan-ho in the top lane and was mercilessly focused by 100 jungler Can "Closer" Çelik, who had a career-defining series.

Summit went 1/14/2 in the first two games of the series, a far cry from what has become the expectation for C9's star top laner, who earned All-Pro honors and is the current frontrunner for the 2022 LCS Spring Split Most Valuable Player award. Summit's individual performance on Tryndamere was superior to his two games on Renekton to start the series, but he failed to provide the impact necessary for C9 to hang on in the series.

While 100 Thieves continue on in the upper bracket of the 2022 LCS Spring Playoffs, Cloud9 will drop down to the lower bracket to face 6th seed Golden Guardians next week.
