Across the three series in round 1 of the 2022 LCS Spring Playoffs, thirteen games were played. Of those thirteen games, the team drafting and playing on the blue side won ten of them, good for a 77% winrate.

The first series of the LEC Spring Playoffs was played in the upper bracket between 1st seed Rogue and their chosen opponent, which was 3rd seed Misfits. Rogue won the first game of the series on the blue side before defeating Misfits again from the red side to push the series to match point in the 1st seed's favor. Misfits managed to win game 3 from blue side, but once Rogue was back on the blue side in game 4, the series ended in a 3-1 in favor of the higher seed.

The second post-season series also took place in the upper bracket between 2nd seed Fnatic and 4th seed G2 Esports. For the first three games, it was more of the same — all three wins went to blue side in a 2-1 split for Fnatic in games 1 and 3, respectively. G2 selected blue side for game 4, but ultimately ended up losing the series 3-1.

The series in the lower bracket between 5th seed Excel Esports and 6th seed Team Vitality was closer, but followed a similar pattern of the first two series in the 2022 LEC Spring Playoffs. XL had blue side in games 1 and 3, and Vitality had blue side in games 2 and 4. All four respective games resulted in wins for the teams on the blue side, but Vitality was able to pull out the series in a close 3-2 from the red side to eliminated Excel from the post-season.

Due to the sample size, it's possible that side selection is a much smaller factor than the round 1 blue side win rate would imply, especially given the difference in performance level between the teams in the upper bracket matches.

Given the nature of how the lower bracket series went, however, it's hard to say side selection didn't play a pivotal part in the progression of the series, and when round 2 kicks off on Friday, April 1 between G2 and VIT, it may continue to make an impact on the 2022 LEC Spring Playoffs.
