Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 added a brand new type of vehicle into the game: Tanks. The new tanks offer a high-power, high-armor way to play Fortnite that can help you and your squad win games if you know how to use them. Here is everything you need to know to get started using the tanks in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2.

The basics to tanks in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2

The tank can carry up to four people in it, enough room for the whole squad.

The driver's seat will allow you to move the tank around the map and gives you access to the heavy cannon that shoots powerful explosive blasts that level buildings and enemies. You also have access to a thermal targeting option while in the driver's seat and you can use a short boost that recharges, similar to other vehicles in Fortnite. The boost takes a lot of fuel, so it might be wise not to over use it.

On top of the tank is a gunner turret. This turret will leave the gunner exposed to enemy gunfire, but the turret itself is powerful against infantry and other vehicles. It can also be used to shoot the tank that you are in, a helpful tip if you are trying to destroy an enemy tank and don't have a tank or explosives of your own to use.

The last two seats are on the back of the tank. These people will be able to use their guns, and will also be exposed to enemy fire, so be aware of that. If you are in a tank with empty seats you are able to switch seats using left-ctrl, so keep that in mind as well.

Know your weaknesses and repairing

While the tank packs a punch, it also has plenty of weaknesses that can be exploited by enemies. For one, enemies can take out the tracks you move on, all but disabling your ability to move. When this happens, you will need to grab your repair torch to get things up and running again. Repair torches can also be used to add straight health back to your tank during or after fights, so it is wise to assign one of your squad members to repair duty.

There are also multiple weaknesses on the tank that enemies can use to overcome you. On the top front, there is a bronze panel. If enemies shoot this panel, they can destroy it, exposing the tank driver to enemy fire. This will recharge with time, so you can get it back after it is destroyed. There are also two bronze panels on the back, that when targetted will overheat the tank, disabling its ability to move. And as mentioned above, you can also target the tracks of the tank to immobilize it.

You should also be aware of those who will seek to hijack your tank, by jumping in an empty turret seat. If this happens you can either jump out of the tank to shoot at them, or you can switch seats in the hopes of taking them by surprise from one of the two back seats. You really only need to worry about hijacking if you don't have a full squad in the tank though, since they can't enter the tank if all the seats are full.

Where to find tanks in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2

Tanks aren't too hard to come by near the beginning of the game, since they spawn in most of the major named locations around the map. Tilted Towers, Coney Crossroads, Rocky Reels, and plenty of other locations are known to host tanks. Just be aware a lot of people will be looking to get their hands on the tanks, so getting one could be a hotly contested task.
