Cloud9 have signed jungler Dennis "Svenskeren" Johnsen as a substitute for their League of Legends program. Svenskeren most recently competed in the LCS in 2021 as the starting jungler for Evil Geniuses, and also played for Cloud9 for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

Svenskeren was the starting jungler for Evil Geniuses in 2021, but in the Summer Split, began to split time with Juan "Contractz" Garcia, who was promoted from EG Academy. In the 2021 LCS Championship, Svenskeren only played one post-season game for EG while Contractz started the rest, and in 2022, Svenskeren found himself without a team while Contractz was signed as the new starting jungler for Counter Logic Gaming.

The situation mirrors Svenskeren's time as a starter on Cloud9, in which he slowly began to split more time with Robert "Blaber" Huang until Blaber was retained as the sole starter before the 2020 season, which is when Svenskeren was acquired by Evil Geniuses.

Given the utter dominance of Cloud9 in the 2022 LCS Spring Split, it's unlikely the Svenskeren will be subbing in for Blaber at any point. However, Svenskeren could be a strong veteran presence to help develop Sebastian "Malice" Edholm, the young starting jungler for Cloud9 Academy. There is also a possibility that Svenskeren will simply be registered as a substitute for both teams and will simply provide veteran insights similar to Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen's current role on C9.

Cloud9 Academy will be competing in the 2022 LCS Spring Proving Grounds after finishing 2nd in the LCS Academy League Spring Split. Cloud9's LCS squad, on the other hand, are on an eight-game win streak and in sole possession of 1st place.

As a result of their most recent win over Team Liquid, Cloud9 punched their ticket to the 2022 LCS Spring Playoffs.
