The penultimate week of the 2022 LPL Spring Split has just begun, and a team has already been mathematically eliminated from post-season contention. As a result of their 2-1 loss to FunPlus Phoenix — their 11th of the LPL Spring Split — Team WE has been mathematically eliminated from any chance of qualifying for the 2022 LPL Spring Playoffs.

Team WE have had an abysmal start to the 2022 season. The former LPL dynasty is 1-11 through 12 matches of the LPL Spring Split. The squad has won 7 individual games in a total of 30, but the only time those wins added up to a match victory was in a 2-1 triumph over LGD Gaming in week 5 of the 2022 LPL Spring Split.

Team WE currently hold sole possession of last place among the 17 teams competing in the 2022 LPL Spring Split, but three teams at the top of the standings have already punched their tickets to the post-season. With a mutual record of 10-2, Victory Five and Weibo Gaming are tied for 1st place in the Spring Split, good enough for both teams to have already qualified for the LPL Spring Playoffs. Additionally, 3rd place Royal Never Give Up, with a current record of 9-3. have also qualified.

Team WE still has four matches left in the 2022 LPL Spring Split, but those matches against Invictus Gaming, Royal Never Give Up, ThunderTalk Gaming, and Anyone's Legend are, as far as WE is concerned, entirely about the team's growth heading into the Summer Split.

Team WE is not the only legacy organization to be suffering domestically after multiple seasons of national dominance.

TSM, the organization with those most LCS titles and most domestic titles in North American LoL Esports history, is currently 2-9 and are in sole possession of last place in the 2022 LCS Spring Split.
