We have finally concluded the votes for the inaugural Inven Global Smash Awards, which celebrated the best players, content, and talent in the competitive Smash scene. This was an important endeavor for Inven's Smash team since the community has been the driving factor keeping the esports scene alive. It's full of passionate players, fans, and TOs that care more about Smash than anything else. 

The Inven Global Smash Awards are showcasing the Smash community and what makes us great. It's now time for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a game that significantly changed Smash's competitive scene and celebrated what it truly means to be a Smash fan with a colorful, gigantic roster and a varied pro scene like never seen previously. 

Here is the best Ultimate match of 2021, voted by a panel of experts, journalists, and pros from the scene.

Best Ultimate Match: Light vs. Sparg0 — Super Smash Con Grand Finals

Smash Con was looking like Sparg0's to take. The prodigy had been waiting to win a Major and this one had no MkLeo. It was the Grand Finals. Sparg0 was in the clear. Well... So the Smash community thought. 

Light is a talented Fox player who has been around for some time. Recently signed by Moist Esports, he had some hype around him but was not seen as a top player on the same level as MkLeo, Sparg0, Tweek, and Glutonny. 

But Light was looking quite strong throughout the event. The underdog was on the Losers side of the top eight, with people expecting him to be eliminated every set. But he took down Marss. Then Maister. 

At first, it looked like Sparg0 was going to completely wipe Light, not even needing a second match. But Light managed to take down the top player. They then faced off one last time, the last in Light's exhausting but exciting Smash Con run. And he took it. 

It wasn't expected. But it was a beautiful run and one of the most intense moments of 2021.

Glutonny vs. Kola — CEO 2021 Grand Finals

Tweek vs. MkLeo — Riptide 2021 Winners Finals

The two giants collided at this fan-favorite Ultimate event. It looked like another moment for Sparg0 to finally win a Major, with him using unexpected fighters to throw MkLeo off. But MkLeo wasn't about to let Sparg0 show him up just yet. While close, MkLeo ended the crazy set with a pretty commendable lead.

But it just set up Sparg0's story arc. Sparg0 has entered 2022 as one of the best but is still looking to be THE best. And to do that he needs to finally win a Major. Will 2022 be his year?
