The LCS has reached a decision on their review of Week 4's game between Immortals and Counter Logic Gaming. After reviewing the match, they have decided to uphold the original result as a Game of Record, claiming the problems experienced during the game by CLG had no meaningful impact on the match's result. The match was a win for Immortals.
The situation began on Feb. 25 — the start of the LCS's Super Week. As Immortal and CLG began playing their game against one another, the latter team began experiencing latency fluctuations. After pausing the game several times and altering LCS officials of the issue, Immortals won the game after a little over thirty minutes.
The Competitive Operations staff later reviewed the problem to see if it had a significant impact on the game's outcome — focusing on if the spikes occurred during direct actions between the two teams. According to Riot's press release on the decision, "LCS Officials determined that each instance of latency fluctuations occurred either: (1) outside of teamfights and in a dead-ball state of the match (resulting in a pause), or (2) during a pause and therefore outside of play altogether." Though the LCS found no material impact on the game because of the latency issues, they issued an apology to CLG, specifically to the team's AD carry, Fatih "Luger" Güven.
The problem was revealed to have originated because of a faulty network switch — something the LCS technical staff quickly fixed. The same problem caused the scheduled game between Evil Geniuses and FlyQuest to be delayed. Immortals currently stand in eight place with a 4-5 record, while CLG remains in ninth place with a 3-6 record.
