On Feb. 10, in the 2022 LCK Spring Split, DWG KIA swept Kwangdong Freecs and stayed close to the leader group. In game 1 of the match, bot laner Seo “deokdam” Dae-gil recorded his first pentakill of his career. After the match, deokdam joined the media for an interview.
Congrats on your 4th win. How do you feel?
It seemed that our rank was on the edge since we lost to T1, but it’s a relief that we won today.
Your games against the leaders, T1 and Gen.G, were really close. Looking back, what do you think you lacked?
We lost because we made a lot of individual mistakes. There were a lot of those mistakes in all the games. Those parts were regretful. We talked a lot about it.
What has changed in today’s game? You played really aggressively.
We talked more. All five players talked more about what they thought, so we were able to show improved performance.
You picked Ezreal into Caitlyn and Lux. What was the reason?
I thought it was a decent matchup, and I picked Ezreal since I was confident in playing him, but things didn’t go as I thought.
Kwangdong Freecs’ bot laner is Teddy, who’s also a great bot laner. How was it facing him?
It felt that Kwangdong Freecs’ individual players are really good, but it seems they haven’t mixed well as a team yet. I wasn’t too aware of facing Teddy.
It was your first pentakill. How was the process?
I did think I might get it, but Zeri’s damage was really strong, so I almost missed it. When I first started to pick up kills, ShowMaker was saying, “Penta? Penta?” I was glad that I got the pentakill, but sadly, I didn’t get voted as Player of the Game. [Laughs]
Do you think the voters should have voted for you?
No. ShowMaker did well, so he really deserved it.
You would have imagined recording a pentakill in the LCK. How did you feel?
The pentakill felt good, but it wasn’t as good as I imagined it would be.
Which champion do you think is the easiest to score a pentakill?
I think it’s easiest with Zeri or Aphelios. These two champions deal massive damage in a short period of time, so it’s easier to last-hit the opponents.
Zeri is available now. You should have practiced playing her. How is she?
Zeri’s a good champion, so we’re keeping her in mind.
She wasn’t banned in game 2 today, but you didn’t pick her.
I’m not sure if she’s good against long-ranged champions like Caitlyn. It was neither good nor bad during practice, so we didn’t pick her.
Any last comments?
We’ll win our next match too, so please cheer for us a lot.
