Team Liquid have defeated Evil Geniuses 3-0 in the finals of the 2022 LCS Lock In. There have been two Lock In tournaments in the history of LCS, and both of their trophies belong to TL. Evil Geniuses came into the series heavily favored, and for good reason. Unlike TL, EG is able to play with their entire starting roster without worry of the green card issues currently stopping TL support Jo"CoreJJ" Yong-in from lifting his status as an LCS import.

In addition, EG had gone a perfect 9-0 throughout the LCS Lock In leading up to the final after placing 1st in Group B of the Lock In, beating Golden Guardians, albeit with the entire roster of Golden Guardians Academy, 2-0 in the quarterfinals.

Two days before the finals, EG 3-0'd Cloud9, who played with only two of their intended starters due to visa delays, in the semifinals. 

Team Liquid ran multiple rosters in the LCS Lock In due to import restrictions, giving starts to Team Liquid Academy top laner Bradley "Bradley" Benneyworth, AD carry Sean "Yeon" Sung, and support Bill "Eyla" Nguyen. Ultimately, it was the roster with Eyla and the four other LCS starters that Team Liquid went with this weekend in their 3-1 semifinals victory over Dignitas and clean sweep of EG in the finals.

It is currently unknown whether CoreJJ will acquire his green card before the start of the 2022 LCS Spring Split, but the performance of Team Liquid in the LCS Lock In, particularly in the individual case of Eyla, is a reassuring buffer until the full roster can be started as intended. The Spring Split kicks off on Friday, February 5, but no official schedule has been released by Riot Games in regards to which specific matchups are taking place.
