Evil Geniuses announced on Tuesday that they have acquired legendary NA CS:GO talent Jacky "Stewie2k" Yip to their new CS:GO line-up, to serve as their in-game leader and entry fragger. Stewie was previously competing with Team Liquid, until he went inactive in Dec. of 2021.
"We can't wait to show what we can do, and reveal our true potential," Stewie said in the announcement video.
Stewie is the first signing of the year for EG, who is currently in the midst of rebuilding their CS:GO squad after releasing daps and tarik earlier in January. There have been rumors that EG plans to sign two of Stewie's former Cloud9 Teammates, Autimatic and RUSH, according to a report from HLTV. However, those rumors have not yet been officially confirmed by the EG organization.
Stewie rocketed to CS:GO fame, alongside Autimatci and RUSH, when he led Cloud9 to victory at the ELEAGUE Major: Boston in 2018, defeating FaZe Clan in an intense double overtime map three to claim the first-ever CS:Go major win for both Cloud9 and North America. Soon after that victory, Stewie went to SK Gaming, then MIBR, then finally Team Liquid. He will now work on taking the new EG team to the next level, in pursuit of a new NA dynasty in CS:GO.
