Last month, Riot Games provided more information on the plan laid out for North America hosting the 2022 League of Legends World Championship. A media-centric event was hosted to commemorate the revealing of the host cities in North America for Worlds 2022, and Inven Global was able to attend and capture some visuals from the event.
The event took place just before a Golden State Warriors game at Chase Center in San Francisco, CA, which will be the host location for the finals of the 2022 League of Legends World Championship.
The Chase Center is the home arena to National Basketball Association franchise Golden State Warriors, who is also the parent company of LCS franchise Golden Guardians.
The Warriors have hosted esports events at their arena in the past, notably hosting the finals of the 2018 NA LCS Summer Playoffs at the previous Warriors stadium of Oracle Arena, which was in Oakland, CA.
Multiple representatives of Riot Games, specifically those with their hands in League of Legends esports, spoke at Chase Center last month to discuss the hosting of Worlds 2022 in North America amidst a pandemic. Depsite COVID-19 affecting the entire globe, Riot Games has been able to host the last two World Championships in person with only necessary crew in person and all players and staff attending the event tested for Coronavirus multiple times and quaranted before the event.
In addition to Riot Games representatives and a few casters in Isaac "Azael" Cummings Bentley and Sam "Kobe" Hartman-Kenzler , two professional LCS players also were at the event. Golden Guardians top laner Eric "Licorice" Ritchie and 100 Thieves support Choi "huhi" Jae-hyun, who played for Golden Guardians in previous seasons, attended the event and presented jerseys commemorating the Chase Center hosting the Worlds 2022 finals.
Licorice and huhi were also present on the Chase Center court for the Warriors' pre-game fanfare.
