On Dec. 27, former FunPlux Phoenix top laner Kim “GimGoon” Han-saem announced retirement from competition.

GimGoon spent a wonderful year with FPX in 2019 — winning both LPL and Worlds. He served his role as the tanker perfectly, completing the perfect victory formula for FPX. However, 2020 was not as optimistic. GimGoon spent a year together with Kim “Khan” Dong-ha, but could not make it out of regional qualifiers. He left FPX in November 2020, but could not find a new team.

With GimGoon’s retirement, all of FPX's 2019 Worlds members have come apart. GimGoon and Khan announced retirement, Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang signed with LNG Esports, and Gao “Tian” Tian-Liang signed with Top Esports. Only Lin “Lwx” Wei-Xiang remains in FPX.
