LCK announced that they have penalized T1’s coach Kim “Roach” Gang-hee and Gen.G for tampering and announcing members that haven’t yet been approved by the LCK, respectively.
According to LCK’s announcement, Roach contacted another LCK player directly without speaking to the team first about contract details. Roach admitted that he asked the player about the contract as well.
LCK rules state that any player, coaching staff, general manager, organizations or owners can only contact other teams’ players through the team. For violating this rule, Roach was fined 3M KRW (~2541 USD) and was suspended for four games.
Gen.G also broke LCK regulations as they announced their players before the LCK approved the contract. On Nov. 24, Gen.G officially announced two members that weren’t approved by the LCK. As they broke the regulations the second time after the first official warning, Gen.G was fined 1M KRW (~847 USD).
The penalties were given based on the LCK Penalty Index. For tampering, the penalty is as follows.
1st offense: 6 months or less suspension or suspension from LCK and an fine of 30M KRW (~ 25410 USD) or less
2nd offense: 12 months or less suspension or suspension from LCK and a fine of 50M KRW (~42430 USD) or less
3rd offense: Indefinite suspension or suspension from LCK and a fine of 100M KRW (~84860 USD) or less
For Gen.G, the regulation for their penalty is as follows.
Announcing unapproved players
1st offense: Warning
2nd offense: A fine of 1M KRW or less
3rd offense: A fine of 3M KRW or less
Roach and Gen.G can request for review within two weeks. If there are no requests, the penalties will be confirmed.
