EMEA-based Acend claimed victory in the Grand Finals of the 2021 VCT Championship Berlin on Sunday, defeating fellow EMEA competitor Gambit in a narrow 3-2 series. This is Acend's first major victory in VALORANT and they earned $350,000 USD prize for claiming the highly coveted VCT title.

Russia's Gambit had an incredible run on their own part at VCT Champs, claiming second place and earning $150,000 for their placement. Gambit was a favorite coming into the tournament, after winning the Major 3 Berlin tournament earlier this year. They defeated KRU in an incredibly close match on Saturday to earn their place in the Finals, where they came just a few rounds short of winning the championship.

Acend was a dark horse candidate coming into the tournament, considering the limited success on the international stage before VCT 2021 Champions. However, they proved their worth, taking their Cinderella story run all the way to finals, after winning their group 2-0. Along the way, they defeated Team Secret and Team Liquid in a sweeping victory, before just barely besting Gambit Esports.

This concludes the VCT 2021 season. During the season, Riot hosted multiple regional majors, as well as three international majors including the Champions event. NA's Sentinels won the first major in Iceland, with Gambit claiming victory at the second one in Berlin.

Riot Games has already revealed a timeline for the 2022 season, which also includes three international majors, with the season concluding with VALORANT Champions 2022 in September.

VCT has also announced a Game Changers circuit that will follow the conclusion of the 2022 VCT regular season.
