It's the end of an era, as Respawn has officially discontinued sales of the original Titanfall game and will remove the game from subscription services on Mar. 1, 2022. The company made the announcement on Wednesday, ending sales of the iconic game after seven years.

"Titanfall is part of our DNA at Respawn," the company said in a statement. "It's a game that showcases the ambitions of the studio when it was first released more than 7 years ago and it continues to be a beacon of innovation that we strive for in all of our games. We've made the decision to discontinue new sales of the original Titanfall game starting today and we'll be removing the game from subscription services on March 1, 2022."

According to the announcement, the company will continue to run Titanfall servers for the fanbase, and will also continue to support Titanfall 2 for now, along with Apex Legends. 

Respawn has been at odds with the Titanfall fanbase over the years, especially since the release of Apex Legends. The company has experienced significant backlash this past year regarding its inconsistent support for Titanfall 2, after that game experienced rampant hacking and exploits over the past year. Some enterprising players even hacked Apex Legends in July in a confusing protest of Titanfall 2's server hacks.

While there has been no announcement or indication that Titanfall 3 is coming anytime soon, Respawn has consistently reassured their fanbase that the Titanfall series is not over, repeating their line that "Titanfall is in their DNA." For now, Respawn's entire focus seems to be on supporting their Apex Legends live service.
