In an interview with the LA Times, Riot Games President of Entertainment Shauna Spenley confirmed that following the success of Arcane,  Riot is planning to make even more television shows centered on League of Legends and other Riot IPs.

"I don’t think most of Hollywood realizes how massive this is,” she explained in her interview. “I think that we have a huge opportunity to build amazing organic stories inside of this world, and for it to quietly build and become the IP that defines a generation. It’s going to take a little time.”

Arcane has seen tremendous success since its release last week. The show, which tells the origin story of Jinx, Vi, and Jayce from League of Legends, dethroned the legendary Squid Game as Netflix most popular trending show in over thirty markets. Its success shows that there is an audience for entertainment set in the world of video games, and has been heralded by many as the best television series based on a video game of all time, even after only three episodes.

“When you’re building great IP . . . we want our players to feel like it was holistically built for them, versus this feeling it’s different business units,” Spenley told the LA Times. “All of this is about games at the center of culture. It’s the inverse of what a Disney would do. They’re putting their films at the center of culture. We really see that games are the center of culture, and these complement that experience.”

The next three episodes of Arcane are set to release on Saturday, Nov. 13th on Netflix. It is unclear when Riot plans to announce any additional television or movie projects, but its' looking very likely that we will be getting more shows like Arcane in the future, which is good news for fans of Riot Games and television enthusiasts alike.
