On Nov 9, Gen.G announced that their head coach, Ju “oDin” Yeong-dal, have mutually parted ways with their organization.
He first joined the scene in 2016 as a coach under Samsung Galaxy, the previous rendition of the Gen.G roster. He, alongside the team’s long-time head coach, Choi “Edgar” Woo-beom, has led the team until May 2020, when Edgar left the team and oDin was eventually promoted to head coach.
Since then, Gen.G has released an official statement regarding oDin’s release, which writes:
“Today, we announce the departure of Head Coach Youngdal ‘oDin’ Ju, as his contract, upon mutual agreement, has come to an end. Head Coach oDin has been with the Gen.G LoL team through many highs and lows and we thank him for the commitment he has shown, as well as the sacrifices he has made for this team. From player to coach to head coach, oDin, has dedicated his professional career to our journey and so it is with heavy hearts that we part ways today. We wish him all the best as he moves on to the next chapter of his career.”
Co-President and Chief Operating Officer of Gen.G, Arnold Hur, also wrote on Twitter about oDin’s release as well:
“I Want to thank oDin for all the work that he put into the team. His continuous effort & professionalism is the reason why he was one of the most well-loved coaches by our players & staff. He was always there to help work through any problem. We wish him the best going forward.”
