The mid laner for EDward Gaming, Lee “Scout” Ye-chan, was selected as the 2021 LoL World Championship Finals MVP. After a full five-game series, EDG managed to take game 5 against DWG KIA and became the 2021 world champions.

Scout has been EDG’s mid laner since 2016. He had his fair share of turbulence throughout his career, but he consistently performed at a level where he was considered one of the top players in the world for a very long time. Prior to his championship victory today, the furthest he’s ever gotten at Worlds was quarterfinals, but with Flandre-Viper joining the roster this year, EDG was able to not only return to the Worlds stage after three years of absence, but also win the whole tournament.

Scout played Ryze, Leblanc, Twisted Fate, and Zoe in this series. While his Leblanc did get shut down by Heo “ShowMaker” Su’s Malzahar, he showed very clean gameplay in game 1, 4 and 5. In the MVP interview that immediately took place after the match, Scout revealed, “I actually thought our jungler, Jiejie, would get MVP. Every single series since the quarterfinals went to five games, so I remember all of them very vividly. I want to take this time to thank the fans that have supported me to help me get here today”.
