Call of Duty: Vanguard dropped this week, bringing with it a World War 2 themed multiplayer mode for players to enjoy. The mode has 28 primary weapons available for use on release, along with a slew of side-arms to pick from as well. While the meta is still very much in the air, a few guns have already forwarded themselves as above the pack in regards to their effectiveness on the battlefield.

Here are some of the best guns to use in Call of Duty: Vanguard, at least so far.

Best weapons in Call of Duty: Vanguard

STG

The STG Assault Rifle is one of the most versatile options in Vanguard. This gun can win encounters in close ranges against SMGs, and can take medium or even longer range encounters if you have enough control over its very mild recoil. This is perhaps the best weapon for players who want something that they can equip and it just works most of the time. 

M1 Garand

The M1 Garand is a 2 shot kill in close range in Vanguard, which immediately rockets it to the top of my list of long-range guns. This gun requires a much higher degree of precision than the automatic weapons, but in return, your time-to-kill potential is much faster, especially if you can hit your headshots. The M1 Garand is one of the most famous guns in history, and it does not disappoint in Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Kar98K

The Kar98k slaps in Warzone, and it is no different in Vanguard. This is the last sniper rifle you unlock in Vanguard, but it is definitely worth the wait. This gun will drop enemies in a single hit to the upper torso or the head, so if you have the accuracy, you can eliminate enemies at long-ranges without any issues. The Kar98k represents the middle of the range for Sniper rifles, with the Type 99 firing the fastest but dealing the least damage, and the 3-line rifle killing with basically any torso shot, but firing the slowest. You could argue this gun exists in the sweet spot between, at least if you have decent accuracy.

MP-40

Hailing from the SMG category, the MP-40 is already proving its worth as one of the fastest killing guns in the game. From close range, this gun can drop your target in 3 bullets. When it is equipped with the proper attachments, you can turn the MP-40 into one of the most fun and effective killing machines in the game. As a bonus, it's a pretty early unlock, so you can get to grinding out its attachments almost right away!

Type 11 LMG

For the LMG fans out there, the Type 11 is a great option. This gun is more mobile than the other LMGs, making it perfect for running around the battlefield and taking gunfights. While it may look weird in its picture, it's one of the most versatile options coming out of the LMG category, with it being highly effective in close and medium ranges, and even viable at long range if you post up somewhere and build it with the right attachments.

It's still early in the game cycle for Vanguard, so its very possible that new guns will emerge at the top of the meta. But these were some of the most fun and effective weapons we have used in Vanguard so far!
