Another legendary Overwatch League pro has announced their retirement from the esports scene. 

Seoul Dynasty's captain and main tank Jaehui "Gesture" Hong took to Twitter on October 12 to announce his retirement.

"There were both good and hard times. Looking back, all those days will stay as a good memory," Gesture said in a TwitLonger about his decision to retire. 

Gesture didn't explain his reason for leaving the Overwatch League. Many pros have recently quit, however, most likely due to how Blizzard handled the Overwatch League during the pandemic. A lot of pros have also admitted to exhaustion over tournament and practice schedules. 

"When the times were good, there was nothing to worry about," Gesture said in a translation. "There were lots of tough days, but I was able to overcome the days with the help and support from the teams, close friends, and the fans. I'm thankful for all the love and support from everyone for me to have a fun pro gamer career." 

In the retirement announcement, Gesture said he was retiring as a professional gamer in general. While he hasn't decided what he will do in the future, Gesture did mention that he wouldn't be known as "pro gamer Gesture" anymore. He said he would be back in the future to reveal his new career path. 

Overwatch League community sad to see Gesture retire

Gesture has been a part of the Overwatch League since it started. Before he was playing for GC Busan in APEX Season 4. In the inaugural season of the Overwatch League, Gesture was on London Spitfire. In Season 3, he led Seoul Dynasty to the grand finals. This season they made it to the playoffs. 

It's safe to say that the Overwatch League community was devastated by the announcement. Seoul Dynasty stated on Twitter that Gesture was "one of the most distinguished players in the league." 

Said the Overwatch League's official account: "A legacy that will last a lifetime. Thank you for all that you brought to the league, and congratulations on everything that you accomplished!"

Junyoung "Profit" Park, who has played with Gesture since the start of the Overwatch League, said: "Thank you for always taking care of me. You worked hard. I love you." Gesture replied with some hearts of his own.
