The Play-in of the 2021 League of Legends World Championship has concluded, and subsequently, all four groups in the main event of the tournament have been fully seeded.

LNG Esports was the first team from the Play-in to qualify for the group stage at Worlds 2021. As the #4 seed from China's League of Legends Professional League, LNG came into the Play-in as arguably the strongest team in either of the Play-in groups and lived up to the expectation. LNG ran rampant through Play-in Group A to a perfect 4-0 score and auto-qualified for the main stage, bypassing the Play-in knockout matches completely.

Latin American representative Infinity Esports was the first team to be eliminated from Worlds 2021 following its loss to LNG Esports, while LNG seeded into Group D alongside MAD Lions, Gen.G and Team Liquid due to the other three groups in the main event of Worlds 2021 already possessing a Chinese team.

League of Legends Japan League champion DetonatioN FocusMe was the next team who escaped the Play-in, winning a first-place tiebreaker against Cloud9 to take the 1st seed in Play-in Group B and becoming the first Japanese team in history to qualify for the main event at Worlds.

Unicorns of Love lost a 4th place tiebreaker to #2 Pacific Championship Series seed Beyond Gaming at the bottom of the group and was subsequently eliminated alongside Infinity Esports, and the Play-in knockout stage was set. First, Beyond Gaming eliminated Turkish representative Galatasaray Esports in a reverse sweep, while on the other side of the bracket, Oceania representative PEACE went the distance against Brazilian representative RED Canids in an elimination win.

BYG and PCE were then met with the task of defeating #4 League of Legends Champions Korea seed Hanwha Life Esports and #3 League Championship Series seed Cloud9, but both challengers were eliminated in clean sweeps at the hands of the major region teams. As a result, Cloud9 was seeded into Group A alongside Rogue, Funplus Phoenix and DWG KIA because Group C, being the only group without a Korean team, is the only group where HLE could be seeded into for the main event.

Hanwha Life Esports will face off against Fnatic, PSG Talon and Royal Never Give Up in Group C at Worlds 2021, while DetonatioN FocusMe will battle it out in Group B among the likes of EDward Gaming, T1, and 100 Thieves.
