Riot fines DWG KIA and Canyon for account sharing

On Oct. 6, LCK announced that DWG KIA have been fined ₩2,000,000 (approx. $1,670), and Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu has been fined ₩300,000 (approx. $250) and has received a 30-day restriction on his account.

LCK investigated a possible policy violation by DWG KIA and Canyon while filming a YouTube video. After investigating, LCK found out that DWG KIA asked Canyon to use the director's account to protect the privacy of the casts and players and to play on a lower MMR.

After confirming DWG KIA's violation, LCK penalized DWG KIA and Canyon following the "LCK Penalty Index." However, given that the purpose of account sharing was to film a video for the team and Canyon played on a different account only once, LCK decided to lower the penalty: according to the rulebook, account sharing can be punished by up to a 12-month ban, but DWG KIA and Canyon only got a 30-day restriction.

Canyon and DWG KIA are currently in Iceland to participate in the 2021 LoL World Championship. The punishment is not expected to be any setback to Canyon's, since he is playing on a Riot account.
