DWG KIA announced their roster line-up for the 2021 LoL World Championship.

With their original five starters, ‘Khan-Canyon-ShowMaker-Ghost-BeryL’, listed, their substitute bot laner, Cho “Rahel” Min-seong will be joining them as their 6th man. Rahel, although being called up to the main roster in the middle of the 2021 LCK Summer split, has yet to debut in the LCK.

Despite the Worlds ruleset changing in 2019 to allow seven players to be listed, Kim “Malrang” Geun-seong was exempt from being listed. Malrang was subbed in for four matches during the earlier matches of the 2021 LCK Summer split and went 3-1. However, with the original starting five players getting back to form, he failed to return to the stage. Unable to be at Worlds, Malrang’s 2021 season has come to an end.

DWG KIA commented, “This year, each team was only allowed to bring 12 people to Worlds. We’ve had long internal discussions on who are going to be part of the 12 that we send. After running simulations on providing the best possible environment for our players, we’ve decided to send three coaches, six players, and one person each from management, operations, and video content.

DWG KIA returns to Iceland once again, where they failed to capture the MSI title earlier in the year against Royal Never Give Up. Although they looked as if they were in a slump, they still head to Worlds as one of the favorites to take the championship.
