The VALORANT VCT Championsip tournaments, which was reportedly originally planned for Los Angeles, will now officially be taking place in Berlin, Germany from December 2-12.
The VCT announced the decision to move the VALORANT World Championship on Friday, citing COVID-19 complications as the driving factor in moving the event to Europe.
Riot explained that, "currently, European travel policies are the most favourable for bringing players from the participating VCT regions together, which presents the best pathway to produce a Champions event where all qualified teams can attend. Our priorities are to create a safe and globally inclusive event that fans all over the world can enjoy."
Friday's announcement mirrors their recent decision announced in August to move League of Legends Worlds to Europe from its originally intended host of China. Riot has not yet confirmed which city or country will be the host for League of Legends Worlds, though an announcement is expected very soon.
In the meantime, the VCT will host its next Major, Masters 3 Berlin, later this month from September 10-19. The offline international major tournament will feature 16 teams from 7 different regions across the planet, all competing for glory and VCT points that can contribute to their qualification to the VCT Champions tournament that will also take place in Germany.
