After T1 locked in their spot as the LCK 3rd seed for Worlds, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok expressed his desire for a rematch against T1’s finals opponents, DWG KIA.

In round 3 of the 2021 LCK Regional Qualifiers, T1 defeated Hanwha Life Esports after a full 5-game series to lock their spot as LCK’s 3rd seed team. In the post-match interview that immediately followed, Faker and Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong shared their thoughts on Worlds.

Faker shared, “I’m glad that we’ll be going to Worlds as LCK’s 3rd seed; the experience we gained from winning this best-of-five series is very valuable.”

Gumayusi’s debut was around this time last year, when T1 played in the regional qualifiers in 2020, but failed to make it to Worlds. “I remember how things were last year; I’ve gained a lot of experience since then. Since then, my desire to go to Worlds has grown significantly, and I’m glad I was able to contribute to the team making it this year.”

Faker shared the matchup against HLE’s mid laner, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon as well. “Chovy stepped up his game towards the end of the regular split. However, I never thought I’d lose to him.” He also had praise for his top laner, Kim “Canna” Chang-dong, in saying, “While I think Park “Morgan” Gi-tae played much better than he did during the regular split, Canna also played incredibly well on Kennen so far.” Gumayusi had praise for HLE’s veteran bot laner, Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu: “Deft made a lot of great plays. I learned a lot from him.”

Gumayusi briefly shared his thoughts on Ezreal as well. He commented, “I think that because Ezreal usually ends up not having lane priority and gets CS under turret, he’s not really that good in the meta. I’ll definitely need to improve my Ezreal before Worlds.”

Faker shared his thoughts on the ‘big 4’ mid laners of the LCK. “I believe that LCK’s mid lane talent pool at Worlds this year is the strongest. All four players have been playing for a long time, and I believe we have what it takes to proudly represent the LCK.” Gumayusi also commented on the adc talent pool at Worlds; “I think that the same can be said for the LCK’s adc talent pool, and I’m glad that I get to stand alongside them this year.”

Returning to the Worlds’ stage after 2 years of absence, Faker expressed his everlasting desire to play against the best of the best. “I want to play against all the 1st seeds of each region. I especially want my rematch against DWG KIA. I was disappointed that I couldn’t perform on the finals stage, so I want to put on a better performance at Worlds.”
