Some of the biggest names in esports are jumping into the Halo Championship Series for Halo Infinite this year.
According to a Tweet released by the HCS on Monday, the league will be partnering with huge names like Cloud9, Envy, FaZe Clan, Fnatic, G2 Esports, Sentinels, and more. This is a very promising start to the revival of Halo esports as we head into the biggest release for Halo in over five years.
"Halo Infinite marks the next era in the franchise, and with it comes the next era for the Halo Championship Series," explained the Tashi for the HCS in a press release. "Behind the scenes, we’ve been hard at work for the last few years building out the ecosystem with Teams being a huge component of that. After getting tons of feedback on the partnership program, opening up applications, selecting the teams, building the in-game content, and signing contracts – we are finally ready to reveal the Teams that will be partnered with us for the launch of HCS for Halo Infinite."
The full list of teams that they announced as HCS partners included:
- Cloud 9
- Team Envy
- eUnited
- FaZe Clan
- FNATIC
- G2 Esports
- Natus Vincere
- Sentinels
- Space Station gaming
According to the announcement, further partnered teams could also be added to this list after launch, however, the HCS specified that they want to "avoid a situation" where they scale up too quickly and can't properly support their partner teams.
The Halo Championship Series was created by 343 Industries. The first competition for the HCS was hosted for Halo 2: Anniversary, but it has since expanded into a global event, with 343 industries hosting a Halo World Championship for Halo 5: Guardians in 2015. The Halo World Championship trophy has been lifted by numerous organizations, including Evil Geniuses in 2015, CLG in 2016, and OpTic Gaming in 2017.
Based on Monday's announcement, the next chapter of the HCS is shaping up to be the most exciting one yet!
