T1 secures a spot at the 2021 LoL World Championship

On August 22, T1 defeated Gen.G in Round 2 of the 2021 LCK Summer Split playoffs. Through this win, they locked in a spot at the 2021 LoL World Championship. They will be Returning to the World Championship after missing last year.

 

As T1 has secured at least a runner-up finish in the summer season, they will have more championship points than Nongshim RedForce even if they lose in the finals. There are two cases remaining for T1 − winning the summer championship, or heading to the last round of the Regional Qualifiers.

 

The LCK Summer Split Finals will be held on August 28. DWG KIA and T1 will clash to determine the strongest team in Korea. In this finals, either DWG KIA head coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun or T1 mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok will win their 10th domestic championship.

 

There will be four LCK teams participating at this year’s World Championship. DWG KIA, Gen.G, and T1 have locked in a spot. The last team will be decided in Round 2 of the Regional Qualifiers on September 1. Nongshim RedForce, Liiv SANDBOX, and Hanwha Life Esports will battle for the last spot.
