On August 17, Riot Games announced the recipients of the LCK Awards for the 2021 LCK Summer Split. For the regular season MVP, Nongshim RedForce Han “Peanut” Wang-ho was picked while his teammate, Kim “Gori” Tae-woo got the Player of the Split award. For the yearly awards, DWG KIA head coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun was voted as Best Coach and Liiv SANDBOX jungler Kim “Croco” Dong-beom was selected as Rookie of the Year.
After his return from the LPL, Peanut led Nongshim RedForce as a seasoned veteran. He led the team to the playoffs in the spring, and again in the summer. With his leadership, Nongshim RedForce was able to stay at the top of the standings for three weeks during the second round.
The Best Coach award and Rookie of the Year awards were given for the entire year. Over the year, kkOma led DWG KIA to a spring championship and became the runner-up at the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational. He again led DWG KIA to a 1st place finish in the summer split.
Croco first showed up in the LCK last spring. Although his results in the spring weren’t particularly good, his performance during the summer split was top-notch, helping Liiv SANDBOX to the playoffs for the first time in two years.
