Day 45 of the 2021 LCK Summer split has come to its conclusion; the final team to come out with a smile tonight was Gen.G. T1 took an unexpected blow against Hanwha Life Esports in the first match of the day, while Gen.G defeated NS RedForce 2-0 and secured 2nd place in the regular split standings. With the day’s conclusion, all regular split matches of the 2021 LCK Summer split have come to an end.

In game 1 of T1 vs HLE, all things seemed to be going well for T1, until when Kim “Canna” Chang-dong’s Gnar got caught out in the side lanes. With momentum behind them, HLE successfully captured Baron Nashor, and continued to aggressively pick fights and snowball the game even further. HLE’s aggression was not enough for T1 to pick themselves up and come back into the game; HLE led 1-0 against T1.

HLE’s poke composition in game 2 was too much for T1 to handle in game 2. In key teamfights/skirmishes throughout the game, Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu’s Varus arrows and Kim “Willer” jeong-hyun’s Nidalee spears hit the right marks at the right times. HLE managed to get all the dragon stacks, eventually destroying T1’s nexus and closing out the series 2-0.

In the second match of the day between GEN and NS, Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong’s Syndra was the clutch factor for Gen.G. Despite the early lead that GEN had built up, NS managed to stay in the game through side lane picks. However, in the last teamfight, Bdd’s Syndra 100-to-0’d Han “Peanut” Wang-ho’s Diana, which led to GEN closing out game 1.

GEN managed to take game 2 as well, in a similar fashion as game 1. Through classic picks like Bdd’s Azir, GEN successfully won every single objective teamfight/skirmish in the game. Although NS tried to create variance to find footing back into the game, one Baron Nashor fight was all GEN needed to take the victory.

With tonight’s match results, the close race to the top of the regular split standings have come to its conclusion. NS losing tonight have shot DWG KIA to first place, while Gen.G secured second place with tonight’s 2-0 victory. T1, despite having a chance to make it to 2nd place, have finished their regular split in 4th place, while Liiv SADNBOX and Afreeca Freecs have finished 5th and 6th respectively.
