Immortals has eliminated Dignitas from the 2021 League Championship Series Championship in a 3-0 sweep in the lower bracket. Dignitas is the first LCS team to be eliminated from the post-season and the third team to have its season end after Counter Logic Gaming and FlyQuest failed to qualify for the LCS Championship.

As the 7th seed in the LCS Championship, Immortals began its post-season in the lower bracket in a position to wait for the loser of 3rd seed Evil Geniuses and 6th seed Dignitas to drop down as IMT's opponent. In a sideline interview during the match on the LCS broadcast, IMT head coach André "Guilhoto" Pereira Guilhoto told James "Dash" Patterson that because IMT expected EG to beat DIG, it essentially had two weeks to prepare for its match against the 6th seed.

Sure enough, DIG lost to EG 3-1, and IMT's predictive preparation paid off.

IMT masterfully avoided DIG's primary win condition of AD carry Toàn "Neo" Trần and support Zaqueri "aphromoo" Black, neutralizing the bot lane duo and at times allowing Quin "Raes" Korebrits and Mitchell "Destiny" Shaw to simply win the 2v2 outright. 

IMT won game 1 convincingly and game 2 even more convincingly, and while DIG looked to extend match point with a Baron Nashor securing following a pick on IMT mid laner David "Insanity" Challe, a phenomenal steal by jungler Andrei "Xerxe" Dragomir to close out the series in dramatic fashion.

When looking at Dignitas as the 6th seed and Immortals as the 7th seed in the LCS Championship, it may come as a surprise at first glance that IMT was not only able to win the series, but do so in such a convincing fashion. However, when looking at both teams in summer, the picture becomes much more clear. 

DIG finished the 2021 regular season with a record of 23-22, superior to IMT's 20-25, but DIG's win total was due in large part to its strong performance in spring, including a qualification for the LCS Mid-Season Showdown, primarily off of the back of jungler Joshua "Dardoch" Hartnett, who was let go by the organization midway through the LCS Summer Split for behavioral conflicts. IMT's 13-14 summer record is slightly superior to DIG's 12-15, arguably coming into the series in superior form.

While DIG will watch the rest of the LCS Championship from the sidelines, Immortals moves on in the lower bracket and will face off next against the victor of Cloud9 and Golden Guardians, who play tomorrow on the other side of the lower bracket.
