There are still a handful of games left to play in the 2021 League of Legends Champions Korea Summer Split, but the post-season picture is already starting to take shape. While seeding is not set in stone, the six teams qualified for the LCK Summer Playoffs have already been decided.

Of the first two top teams to qualify for the LCK Summer Playoffs, one came as a surprise, while one was expected. Gen.G continued playing in its impressive form showcased throughout spring, and Nongshim RedForce decided to avoid a close 6th place finish by simply staying in 1st place for the majority of summer. NRF is still in 1st place, currently in a tie with with Liiv SANDBOX, who secured its post-season spot earlier this week.

Because Liiv SANDBOX qualified for the LCK Summer Playoffs after DWG KIA, and later, T1, secured their respective post-season spots, only one spot in the post-season was left heading into this weekend. As the fastest team in LCK history to be mathematically eliminated from the post-season, DRX has long been out of the running, and Fredit BRION joined DRX in elimination earlier this week.

As a result, Afreeca Freecs, KT Rolster and Hanwha Life Esports were left over the past few days to fight over the sole remaining seed in the LCK Summer Playoffs. At 8-7, AF held possession of sixth place heading into this weekend and had the best chance to qualify.

At 6-10, both HLE and KT would not only need to win their respective matches against AF, but AF would have to lose its match to first place Nongshim RedForce before HLE and KT got their chances. AF managed to upset Nongshim 2-0, and by securing its ninth win, became the last team to qualify for the LCK Summer Playoffs.
