In the 2021 League of Legends Champions Korea Summer Split on August 6, kt Rolster defeated DRX 2-1 and kept their hopes up for the playoffs. Although chances are very slim, kt Rolster mid laner Kim “Dove” Jae-yeon was still positive and hopeful for the team’s future while he talked with Inven.

It was a difficult win for you today. How do you feel?

Before going to bed last night, I thought we would win 2-1 today. When we were nearing the end of game 2, it seemed that we could sweep, but somehow… we lost. Things went as I predicted and it was tiring.

As you said, game 2 was a huge turnaround. How were the shotcalls when you were surrounding their Nexus?

We would have destroyed the Nexus, but Doran said “Let’s kill Pyosik”. [Laughs] The calls were divided for a moment because of that. It wasn’t completely his fault, because we thought we would win.

The situation could have damaged your concentration. How was the feedback after game 2?

Doran kept saying he was sorry and reflected on himself for wanting to kill Pyosik. The coaching staff said that it was okay, and gave us a lot of advice.

Although chances are slim, if you beat Liiv SANDBOX and Afreeca Freecs, you have a shot at the playoffs. How is the team’s mindset?

We’re a bit exhausted, but Hirai always says that it’s not over till it’s over. So I think we need to do our best until it’s really over. Everyone’s been more blazed up since we had about four matches left in the season.

Apart from KT’s results up to now, you’ve been showing a great performance throughout the season. What’s your secret?

My heart was pounding after game 2 today. Although I felt uneasy after we lost game 2, I took deep breaths since we still had another game to play. Whenever I feel uneasy, I take deep breaths. When I do, I forget about the previous match and return to normal. I always do that when I get nervous.

Any last comments?

Although chances are slim, I want to make it to the playoffs. Since we’re working hard, please keep cheering for us. Thank you always.
