Only three games are left in the 2021 League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split and seven teams have qualified for the LCS Championship. One spot in the post-season remains, and throughout the final week of the Summer Split, FlyQuest, Golden Guardians and Counter Logic Gaming will fight for a chance to extend their respective seasons beyond this Sunday.

Of the three bottom teams, FlyQuest has the best odds to qualify for the LCS Championship by a good margin. At 13-29, FlyQuest is currently in 8th place ahead of Golden Guardians by one game and Counter Logic Gaming by two games. If FLY wins its first match of week 9 against Golden Guardians, it will automatically qualify for the LCS Championship and eliminate Golden Guardians and CLG.

A 14th win for FlyQuest would mean that even if CLG went 3-0, FLY would be placed higher because of the head-to-head record. Since this would make GG the loser of its first match, the best case result for the Golden State Warriors affiliate in this scenario would only be tying with FlyQuest and being eliminated due to the 3-2 head-to-head.

FlyQuest has made a roster change ahead of week 9 of the LCS Summer Split, bringing up jungler Brandon Joel "Josedeodo" Villegas and mid laner Cristian "Palafox" Palafox from FLY Academy in place of Hoangan "Nxi" Dinh and Stephen "Triple" Li, respectively.

A win for Golden Guardians against FlyQuest this Friday would not only keep both its and CLG's post-season hopes alive, it would also result in an 8th place tie between GG and FLY with GG holding favor in the cumulative head-to-head record of the 2021 LCS season. This would greatly benefit Golden Guardians, who has the toughest strength of schedule for its last three matches amongst the three teams with 100 Thieves and Immortals as opponents.

Counter Logic Gaming's odds of qualifying for the 2021 LCS Championship are the lowest of the three teams. Even if GG beats FLY on Friday, a loss to Dignitas on Friday would eliminate CLG all the same. If CLG can defeat TSM on Saturday to stay alive, it may find itself in a scenario where its destiny is in its own hands in its final match of the Summer Split against FlyQuest.

The rest of the post-season picture is heavily segmented in terms of LCS Championship seeding. No team has secured a top 2 position, which grants a bye and moves the team into a position where one best-of-five series win results in a qualification for the World Championship in China. However, the top five spots in the standings are restricted to 100 Thieves, TSM, Cloud9, Evil Geniuses, and Team Liquid. Immortals is one game behind Dignitas and fighting to claim its 6th placing.
