On July 24, in the 2021 LCK Summer Split, DWG KIA swept DRX and Liiv SANDBOX defeated T1. After today's matches, DWG KIA maintained their position in 3rd place and Liiv SANDBOX rose to 4th. DRX became the first team to be eliminated from the playoffs race.
The first match was between DWG KIA and DRX. From the beginning, DWG KIA took the lead. As Heo "ShowMaker" Su's LeBlanc headed towards top lane, DRX's jungle and mid also joined the fight. However, the only champion that died was Hwang "Kingen" Seong-hoon's Dr. Mundo. Kim "Khan" Dong-ha's Jayce survived after a long pursuit. DWG KIA solidified their lead by also collecting kills in the bot lane. In 13 minutes, DWG KIA had a 5K gold lead as they took the Rift Herald and the dragon. DWG KIA’s snowball didn’t stop and at the 20-minute mark, the kill score was 18:1 in their favor with an 18K global gold. No more time was needed for DWG KIA as they ended the game in 22 minutes.
Compared to game 1, the second game was much more balanced. The two teams didn't have any accidents. In this game, ShowMaker picked Trundle in mid lane for the first time in the LCK. The first teamfight came around the Rift Herald, and in this fight, DWG KIA took 3 kills while giving up 2. Jang "Ghost" Yong-joon's Kalista collected two kills and took a step ahead. Although the global gold wasn't that far apart, DWG KIA had collected both the dragon and the Rift Herald. Afterward, DWG KIA continued to score while DRX tripped on their own feet. Without much trouble, DWG KIA finished the game.
The second match was between T1 and Liiv SANDBOX. In the first game, T1 moved more actively from early in the game, but Liiv SANDBOX fought back well. Yoo "FATE" Soo-hyeok's Ryze appeared in the right place at the right time to help the team. He also picked up a solo kill on Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok. The lead wasn't big, but Liiv SANDBOX snowballed through that small lead. They won the following fights and controlled the objectives. After taking the dragon's soul, Liiv SANDBOX destroyed T1's Nexus.
T1 picked Ziggs bot and Trundle support for game 2 and Moon "Oner" Hyeon-joon looked after the bot duo intensively. Through this, T1 pushed very quickly. At the 19-minute mark, T1 was already ahead 7K in global gold. As they were much ahead, T1 planned their attacks carefully until they had a sure chance. After cutting off Varus in mid lane, T1 finally destroyed Liiv SANDBOX's Nexus.
In the last game, it was Lee “Effort” Sang-ho to the rescue. The two teams gave and took kills around the Rift. When one team took benefits on one side, the other benefitted on the other. It was T1 that inched ahead through their macro, but as Effort's Alistar had a miracle Baron steal, Liiv SANDBOX turned the game around. At the fourth dragon fight, Oner's Diana popped instantly and Liiv SANDBOX took the soul and Baron. Through these buffs, Liiv SANDBOX closed the game to collect their eighth win of the season. With the win, they rose to 4th place.
