The Overwatch tournament administrator Xou, who recently ruined a match between Ardour and Noble, has been removed from his position organizing Overwatch tournaments. However, he was not removed over his decision to refuse to pause the match that ruined Noble's chance at victory, instead, he was removed over racist comments he made five years ago that resurfaced during the backlash against his decision last week.

Overwatch Contenders released a statement on Twitter Monday, saying, "In light of recent events, our Overwatch Contenders Tournament Operator, Monkey Bubble, has let go of their tournament administrators. There is no place for racism within Overwatch Contenders"

Xou released an apology for his racist posts in a Twitlonger on Monday.

"Sunday 18th July, a tweet came up with a screenshot of an unacceptable discussion I had 5 years ago," He explained. "My words were incredibly careless and stupid at the time. They wrongly illustrates my opinions as I will always strongly disagree with any form of racism. I regret them and feel deeply sorry for the pain they have caused. There is absolutely no excuse and I prefer to step away if my presence in the community creates unease."

While many players demanded he be disciplined for "abuse of power", the TO wasn't officially removed for his controversial July 14th decision to force Noble to play a man down and lose a crucial match. He did nonetheless also apologize for that whole situation as well.

"I was convinced my role was to strictly enforce the rules regarding pause time at this moment," Xou said. "But given the stakes and the timing of the disconnection, I should have showed more flexibility and better communication with the tournament production regarding the options to consider."

He continued, "I failed to find the right balance in my decision making for a satisfying conclusion for all parties involved, including the fans, in this match. For this I sincerely apologize to everyone, especially to the players and staff involved in this match who worked hard and invested their time and efforts to be part of the competition."
