On day 26 of the 2021 LCK Summer split, Moon “Oner” Hyun-joon was subbed in for T1’s usual starting jungler, Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan, and T1 defeated kt Rolster 2-0 in the first match of the day. NS RedForce managed to defeat DWG KIA 2-1 in the second match of the day to rise to 2nd place in the standings.
The first match was the classic ‘telecom wars’ between T1 and KT. Despite the news of their coaching staff getting sacked being announced on the day of the match, they seemed unfazed by the news. Oner was named the ‘Player of the Game’ in both game 1 and 2, through his near-perfect performance and aggressive plays.
In addition, T1’s bot lane had total control over KT’s bot lane right from the laning phase, which contributed greatly to T1’s victory. Despite KT’s efforts to strategize around the top side of the map, T1’s bot lane was too much for KT to handle. In the end, through Oner’s impact around the map, they were able to quickly close out the series.
The second match of the day was the highlight match of the week; NS RedForce and DWG KIA fought for 2nd place in the standings. Game 1 was by far the best match of the split, as both teams traded heavy blows and made the game very entertaining for the fans. In amidst the chaos, Kim “Gori” Tae-woo’s Ryze was able to scale well into the late game and take game 1 for NS RedForce.
However, DWG KIA struck back in game 2. Even though they gave up a couple of kills in the early game, they kept their lead in global gold up. The poke from Kim “Khan” Dong-ha’s Jayce completely dismantled NS RedForce in teamfights, thus tying up the series 1-1.
NS RedForce completely dominated the game right from the laning phase of game 3. With Han “Peanut” Wang-ho on Viego, he was able to get kills around the map and relieve pressure off his laners. Despite Heo “ShowMaker” Su’s Lee Sin trying to keep DWG KIA in the game, Seo “deokdam” Dae-gil’s Ezreal outscaled everyone and defeated DWG KIA 2-1.
