With three weeks left in the 2021 League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split, Counter Logic Gaming is making a roster change. Tanner "Damonte" Damonte has been signed as CLG's new mid laner and will be starting in week 7 of the LCS Summer Split.

Counter Logic Gaming came under fire yesterday for airing a sponsored video marked as 'Bud Light Cooldown' where the team was somberly told that by general manager Daniel "Tafo" Lee that due to the roster's performance, this may be the last time the roster of these five players play together. In an attempt at transparency, CLG came under fire from the community, with most comments highlighting a mistreatment of players and scapegoating talent for organizational faults.

CLG owner Madison Squre Garden Company also came under fire, especially when former members of the organization spoke up about how difficult it is to be a part of CLG due to the organization's dynamic with MSG.

Damonte's signing is not Counter Logic Gaming's only recent change. The team recently signed Greg Kim, whose previous position was re-building Evil Geniuses' LCS division upon the org's return to the league at the start of 2020, as the new Head of CLGWith Damonte starting in the LCS, the future of CLG mid laner Eugene "Pobelter" Park is currently unknown.

Week 7 of the 2021 LCS Summer Split will mark Damonte's first LCS start since mid-way through last split. Damonte, starting for 100 Thieves at the time alongside three of his former Golden Guardians teammates and franchise top laner Kim "Ssumday" Chan-ho, was replaced with 100 Thieves Academy mid laner Tommy "ry0ma" Le.

Results did not improve significantly after spring, and 100 Thieves looked elsewhere to make changes in the mid lane.100 Thieves sent ry0ma back down to the LCS Academy League, parted ways with Damonte, and acquired Felix "Abbedagge" Braun from FC Schalke 04 Esports.

With nine games left to play, Counter Logic Gaming is currently tied for last place in the LCS with Golden Guardians and two games behind 8th place FlyQuest, who, at 12-24, is currently in poisiton to secure the final post-season seed in the 2021 LCS Championship.
